Healthy Foods For Healthy Kids hires its first Executive Director

Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids (HFHK) has named Lydia Sarson their new Executive Director. Ms. Sarson succeeds founder and CEO Dr. Thianda Manzara, who retires later this year. Dr. Manzara will continue to serve as a science and technical advisor.

Dr. Manzara said, “It’s an exciting and pivotal time for HFHK, as we welcome Lydia as our new leader and expand our school vegetable gardening program statewide. I’m confident with Lydia at the reins our growth throughout Delaware will accelerate. “

Ms. Sarson said, “One of my priorities will be to ensure Delawareans get to know us better. The work we do to educate kids on healthy eating and to learn the science behind successfully growing their own food is important now more than ever.

“I grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania, where we grew most of our food, so I personally identify with this mission. I am grateful to Thianda for all the amazing work she has done. I look forward to continuing HFHK’s inspirational work with the board’s and staff’s support.”
