NaturaLawn of Wilmington Finds Common Ground with HFHK

In late 2022, NaturaLawn of America, Wilmington got introduced to HFHK’s school garden program. “When I heard about the program, I thought, how neat! This is exactly what young children need to learn - where their food comes from and how to grow it themselves,” said owner Rick Yates.

Since then NaturaLawn has grown their support of HFHK from an event sponsor in 2022 to an Adopt a Garden sponsor for Mt. Pleasant Elementary in 2023. “Hearing the teachers tell their stories at the 2022 fundraiser reminded us of the profound influence organizations like HFHK can have on shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning in such a dynamic way,” said NaturaLawn Office Manager Kelly Moore. “NaturaLawn remains committed to supporting initiatives that make a positive difference in communities, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the tangible results of our collaboration.”

School gardens grow community partnerships too!

After 10 years of growing, Mt. Pleasant’s garden needs to be replaced. One of the beds is falling apart and the fallow COVID years helped weeds firmly root themselves in the soil. “We want to rebuild their garden this summer, so the students can have a happy and healthy garden from which to learn and grow. This is a $6,500 project and we are so grateful to NaturaLawn for jump-starting our fundraising with a $2,000 commitment,” Sarson stated. “See, school gardens really do grow community partnerships, too!”
