Carrie Downie Elementary School

Carrie Downie Elementary School began working with Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids in the spring of 2013, as the result of the USDA/FNS Farm to School Grant. Garden coordinator Tom Reist helped get the garden program off to a great start that spring, before moving on to New Castle Elementary. The garden is now in the capable hands of Garden Coordinators Sarah Kise and Kelli Batten.

Carrie Downie's excitement for their garden is apparent on their website, where they announce their bountiful harvests and upcoming celebrations.

Properly composting refuse is an important part of maintaining a healthy garden.
