Elbert-Palmer Elementary School

The Elbert-Palmer's Education Cultivation Program officially began in Spring of 2012, as a result of a Healthy People 2020 Community Innovation grant awarded to HFHK.

Teacher Sarah Garrett is the Garden Coordinator for the project.

Additional gardens at the school were provided by Bank of America and Lowes, which allowed a small HFHK pilot program in Fall of 2011, and now allow summer gardening and preschool projects to flourish alongside HFHK's program.

AmeriCorps NCCC volunteers built the Education Cultivation garden with the help of HFHK staff.

Education Cultivation was fully implemented in Spring 2012, when 1st grade and Kindergarteners planted spinach, lettuce, arugula, and radishes.  Students & staff have been enjoying spring and fall harvests ever since!
