Springer Middle School

This is where Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids started!  HFHK began as a pilot program at Springer Middle School in spring of 2005, when 7 classes planted the newly completed courtyard garden, then harvested and ate the “fruits of their labors.” The program expanded the following year to include all 7th grade science classes, and continued until the Springer building renovation in 2009.  The Chef Stephen Romeo Memorial Garden was dedicated in November of 2010, and has provided bountiful harvests each subsequent spring and fall.

Seventh grade science teacher David Brown is the current Garden Coordinator, assisted by his colleagues Maureen Romeo and Caitlin Gibbons.
