HFHK receives Delaware Wellness Leadership Award

The Lt. Governor of Delaware named Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids one of seven recipients of the annual Wellness Leadership Award for their work with school gardens and related science curriculum. The award recognizes local health and wellness programs and policies that help support and sustain the quality of life of Delawareans.

In accepting this honor, Dr. Thianda Manzara said, "The need for our mission has become more urgent since the pandemic. We believe everyone should know how to grow food. I want to thank most of all the fabulous Delaware students. They make our work a delight and are an inspiration to us every day."

Other winners: Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Delaware Libraries, Hispanic American Association of Delaware, Reach Riverside Development Corp., Rose Simon and Seaford School District Behavioral Health Team. Honorary mentions are Adesis, Breaking Barriers and Freeman Arts Pavillion.
